This is an illustration of Rocky Balboa. The directional line making that built the style of this drawing is a culmination of the illustrative experimentation I have been conducting over the last few years.

 

In the first Rocky movie, Rocky Balboa is not dramatized in any form. He is an underdog and an unlikely hero. Certain parts of the movie put him in scenes with a lot of awkward silence, and his background is much less than a high class environment. This drawing was meant to emphasize the lack of idealized traits that Rocky held. He wasn't rich, he wasn't well-known, he wasn't intelligent, but through all the obstacles he may have faced, he had overcome the status quo many people had put him into.
