Positioned at number 20 in this years' prestigious AJ Top 100, ADP Architecture is one of the leading lights in contemporary design in the UK. Renowned for their functional, inspirational and stylish designs, the practice has built a reputation within the education sector. Working with the Manchester office, Arc was commissioned to provide a set of photomontage images to support a planning application which was due to be submitted on behalf of the University of Central Lancashire. The proposed development comprised two contemporary new builds providing students with high quality sports facilities and nursery alongside a state-of-the-art laboratory to house UCLan's forensic and investigative sciences (FIS) faculty.
Working from CAD files provided by the architect, we built detailed 3D models of both proposed buildings, from which we could develop a series of draft viewpoints. In order to display the development within the actual setting, a photographic backplate was commissioned and the buildings dropped into the approved viewpoints. Each of the 3D models was meticulously matched to the photographs, with materials and lighting applied to the image to ensure a seamless blend with the backplate. The composited, 3D rendered images were then treated with further post-production to complete.
In addition to the external photomontage, the architects required a fully 3D render of the interior atrium of the sports building. This photo-realistic image was used to facilitate discussion between the architect and client on the interior finishes and layout. In total, Arc supplied three external photomontage visuals and one interior CGI to be submitted with the planning application which was subsequently passed at committee and construction is now underway
