RETRACTION

I worked closely with Prof. Bruce Charlesworth on a number of video projects. Our attention was primarily focused upon planning, construction, and production of the RETRACTION project for the Milwaukee Art Museum. I had the opportunity to collaborate with Prof. Charlesworth at every stage of development, gaining valuable insight into the creative process of a working artist in a professional environment.

Working on a project that utilizes subversive psychological tactics, explores interactions between an audience and screen space, and experiments with entirely new modes of observation and narrative construction has given me a unique perspective in my approach to the visual arts and communication. As I work across different mediums, I am continually searching for new ways of creating interactions between viewers and various media.
Design Walk-Through and Video Teaser
Though at this time only "room three", the primary room, has been completed, all rooms will have their own style and set of characters that twist into the narrative. As video from "room three" is displayed in the other rooms, so too will their projections appear in "room three".
Construction of the "Room 3" (largest of five) production space
The video shot in spaces like these will be projected in a series of replicated rooms at the Milwaukee Art Museum, allowing gallery participants to become enthralled by the media space.
During production I was able to work with a number of Graduate students and faculty members.  I was put in charge of Lighting Design and also assumed the role of Gaffer, DIT, and Assistant Camera.
I recently presented my work at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Undergraduate Research Symposium. I designed this poster and an accompanying video loop. In addition, I assumed the role of the "Guard" character by dressing in wardrobe. Thus, I involved the participants and judges at the symposium in the expanded, interactive narrative of RETRACTION.
At the 2012 University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Undergraduate Research Symposium, my presentation of research won first place and gained publicity for both the RETRACTION project and the PSOA Film department. The Symposium was attended by over 150 student researchers in all fields of study (the university's largest to date). For more detail on the event, visit this article
