  • Gift Guru Mobile Application / December 2011

Guidelines: Work with a partner to create a mobile application of your choosing.

    Collaboration with: Kayla Koenigsknecht

Statement: The gift guru shopping guide is a mobile application designed to simplify gift buying for all occasions. It will give you suggestions on what to buy for someone based on ve categories that you select and what is currently popular for someone that meets those criteria. When you find an appropriate gift, save it to your shopping list or locate it in a store. You can save and share wish lists between friends, as well as cross off gifts you bought for a friend on their wish list to avoid duplicate gifts (but don’t worry, they won’t see what is crossed off). Use your phone’s camera feature to scan bar codes of items you want and add them to your wish list for your friends to see. Set up reminders for upcoming events that require gift buying. The gift guru shopping guide instantly gives you access to everything you need to shop for gifts while on the go.

*If you want to use the gift guru shopping guide with friends that don’t have access to this application, they can set up an account on and access the same features of this mobile application.
  • Setlist Website / October 2011

Guidelines: Propose a look for a website that helps booking agents find musical talent and helps musical talent find booking agents.

Statement: This website is made for quick navigation. The bar on the left makes it easy to narrow down your search results. You can also easily change what you are looking for. I chose a grunge atmosphere to reinforce the live music feel that the logo already depicts.
  • Emotigraph Mobile Application / June 2011

Guidelines: Create a mobile application that will track the user's emotions over time. This app will be sold to medical professionals for their patients to use.

Collaboration with: Kara Leiby & Yi Liu

Statement: This was a collaborative project that I worked on during my internship at Primarily Rye. I led a group of two other interns and together, we came up with a design that was both funcional and visually pleasing. This is my first mobile application.
  • Urban Interactions / February 2011

Guidelines: Working in a team of two, conceptualize and design a website that will improve the city of Grand Rapids.

    Collaboration with: Kayla Koenigsknecht

Statement: There are numerous college students near Grand Rapids that either need volunteer hours for class requirements or are just looking for ways to volunteer and help out the community. There are also many people in Grand Rapids that could use volunteers. Right now, there is a disconnect between these two groups of people. There isn't an easy way for them to find each other. Take Part fixes this problem by connecting volunteers with those in need. It not only provides an environment for these people to find each other, but it provides a way for volunteers to feel they are a part of something. Users can join a community of people that they regularly volunteer with. Take Part is not only a way to improve Grand Rapids, but also a way for people to meet new people in the community they live in. Take Part could extend to other cities.
