This alphabet is part of my final major research project in my final year of university. I really wanted to explore how to take typography out of it's natural environments and construct it three-dimensionally. This experimental journey has taken me down some very weird, yet wonderful roads, from sticking toast on my kitchen wall to setting a typeface in coffee. Some experiments have worked really well, some have led to new discovries and some have not turned out at all how I would have liked. Although this is a complete set it's not necerserily finnished, for now I'll take a step back from the project, but sometime in the future I can see myself re-visiting it.
Throughout the project I tried many different experiments, some have led onto ideas to make letters for the final alphabet and others have not. Here is Futura Ultra set in coffee, an early experiment made from nails and string and a hand cut alphabet made from found leaves.
