This website was designed for the University of Johannesburg’s Faculty of Art Design & Architecture, Visual Identities, Art & Design research centre (UJ FADA VIAD). The site concept is quite simple. There are 3 main tiers of content – publications, events and researchers. The idea behind the site was not only simply to load masses of content onto the web but rather to create an information centre where users can interact and access information quickly and easily.
Thus the grid design was born – creating a landing page where multiple tiers of content were available to the user. Moreover, when one clicks into a specific event or publication a side bar would come up with a list of content relevant to the information (eg. a chapter downloads option for the publications) and also a list of related events/publications. It is a very intuitive design and when launched I feel it will be welcomed with open arms.
This presentation includes the proposed design – the final design which will be available online in the next few weeks – has been tweaked and changed a bit.
