In 2008 the University of Illinois College of Education (CoE) began looking at options for a new building to help house their ever-growing program. A. Richard Williams, FAIA, architect of the existing CoE building collaborated with the School of Architecture on a scheme which would bridge the gap between old and new. One result of the investigation was a 1/32 inch scale model of the surrounding campus. In late 2009 the CoE called upon WORKUS Studio to build a model representing the new scheme. The model itself is a beautiful balance of old-fashioned craft and modern laser-cutting technology, forging an immensely detailed miniature representation.
