Project Brief
The brief was to create designs that contribute to an exhibition, which will be held at the Barbican Art Gallery in London. The exhibition was titled 'Pioneers of Graphic Design' and comprised of a series of shows on major figures within the history of graphic design. Given a typographer to research, I had to produced a poster, a postcard and a webpage. These act as publicity material, advertising the individual exhibition and I've had to consider how the series is advertised and branded as a whole. Each element of the different pieces must communicate effectively with the content, text and layout.
The typographer I was given to base my designs on was "Wim Crouwel", with thorough research of his work and created typefaces, I simply didn't want to just imitate and copy* his work, but take elements of his style and make it my own. I picked up on the idea of slicing text, inspired from the calendar he created.
