I chose to write about postmodern typography because I havealways had a passion for type. However, writing about the general topic of typewould make a gigantic book. To narrow it down, I decided to write aboutsomething that is still occurring, something fresh, and something new andprogressive. This idea really helped me develop the idea of writing aboutpostmodern typography and its impact on the world today. I also wanted tooutline the history and characteristics of the typefaces to show the variouspersonalities these typefaces have and their present application.

The design direction I have taken reflects my personal aesthetic.I have always employed the ideas of clean, bold, and innovative constructionswithin my designs. This is partially due to the influence of Herb Lubalin andthe work of Pentagram Design. For the color palette, I have chosen three colors:a highlight, a mid tone, and a shade to keep a minimal approach with versatileapplication. My type preference is based on its trendsetting properties andpostmodern nature. I try to design with a fury and it is that level of visualstimulation that I want to convey to the viewers of my book.
