turkish delight mural
mural at turkish delight -nightclub in Oslo, Norway
Our brief was to through a mural decorate and to further create an athmosphere in the club. The club has a mixed audience of various age groups. Turkish delight is a fairly new club and it is rooted in its passion for music and aim to establish a community around it with it's many varied concepts and club nights.
We chose to limit ourselves to a color palette consisting of a qualitative contrast of browns with burnt umber being our darkest color. we wanted something representative of the club yet imaginative and with it's own logic. Compositional we chose to create something flowing and dynamic that would lead one into the room. With this having been set, we found that a smoke cloud would be the best solution. What's better to inhabit a smoke cloud than characters based upon birds. cloud + birds + music = turkish delight. The process of painting the piece was an iterative process where we evolved the composition and. revised the elements gradually as we went along. The painting took place between the 4th to the 6th of september 2011 and was all done by cupofill, consisting of Ole F. Hvidsten, Martin P. Bøckman and Lars K. Huse.
