Tulsa Deco Website

A Guide to Art Deco Architecture in Tulsa, Oklahoma

The summary of the project presented was to create a website that could serve as a tour of a city. Within those limitations, the website could focus on specific aspects of a city just as long as it provided the adequate information that would be useful for the user. I chose to base this website around Tulsa Art Deco Architecture. Tulsa has a high density of Art Deco buildings, as well as a wide variety in types of Art Deco styles and history.

The "Tulsa Deco" website offers the history of Art Deco in Tulsa, an overview of styles and examples, a survey and detailed information of some of the more notable buildings, as well as different types of tours. The concept of the website was to mimic some of the elements that embody the Art Deco style, such as shapes, colors and aesthetic; but also present them in a way that was modern, clean and easily navigable. Each page contains small details to reinforce the Art Deco Style in some way which is incorporated with high detailed and dynamic photography. Within some of the pages there are also roll over pieces that provide additional information, or additional views of photography. The tour section also include maps of the areas which will be useful to the user. The website can function as an educational, informational, and tour guide to interested viewers such as architecture students/instructors, interior design students/instructors, architecture enthusiasts, Art Deco historians, and Tulsa/ Oklahoma historians.
