Challenge:
Depression has become a widespread disease in today’s world, affecting all age groups and social classes. Nevertheless, people suffering from anxiety and depression are stigmatized and marginalized. Brochures and flyers from counseling centers do not really help in this matter by using stock photos of sad looking people staring out of their windows and using dark colors to underline an already depressing topic.
How can the visual design of a counseling center look like in order to help de-stigmatizing a serious topic? How can we make this topic more approachable without downplaying the seriousness of depression?
Approach:
The visual design should be signaling positivity and avoid all sorts of clichéd photography and other imagery which has been mainly used by already existing organizations. By using a refined color palette and a set of inspirational and motivating quotes, it makes it easier for people to approach the topic.
