All three rhymes were chosen and ordered to configure an original narration, as translated by the author:
RHYME XIII
Your pupil is blue, and when you laugh,
its smooth clarity reminds me
of the tremulous brilliance of the morning
that reflects in the sea.
Your pupil is blue, and when you cry,
the transparent tears in it
seem to me like drops of dew
on a violet.
Your pupil is blue, and if in its depth
like a point of light an idea glimmers
it seems to me, in the afternoon's sky,
a lost star!
RHYME XXX
Her eyes started to show a tear
and my lips, a phrase of forgiveness;
pride spoke and she wiped away her tears
and the phrase expired on my lips.
I go one way; she goes another;
but when we think of our mutual love,
I still say: Why did I keep silent that day?
and she will say: Why did I not cry?
RHYME LII
Gigantic waves that break roaring
on remote and deserted beaches,
wrapped in sheets of foam,
take me with you!
Gusts of hurricane that snatch
the withered leaves of the high forest,
dragging them along in a blind whirlwind,
take me with you!
Storm clouds that the bolt tears
and with fire decorate the loose borders,
enthralled among the dark fog,
take me with you!
Have mercy and take me to where vertigo,
with the reason, pulls out my memory.
Have mercy! I am afraid to be left
alone with my grief!
