This visual was first a poster design to illustrate the song "Tourette's" by Nirvana (check my "Type Songs" project). There are many theories about this song. I founded different lyrics, and many argue about it (what does he really say ?). Indeed Kurt Cobain doesn't seem to shout the same lyrics every time (In Utero VS Live). In fact, I guess this wasn't important, this song just looks like a fun track to make noise, giving maximum energy and a high tension feeling.
This describes Tourette's syndrome : saying / yelling meaningless words (often insults) while reaching a high level of stress. That's what I tried to illustrate through this messy composition.
I took the challenge to make a A2 sized linocut from this poster. That was really funny. And long.
This red linocut was printed with a baren on Canson Édition 250 g/m² paper, numbered and signed (edition still in process). Image size is about 40 x 60 cm (A2 size) and is now available
on my Etsy shop right here.
