Top Shelf
An application for the Collector
Top Shelf is a collaboration project between myself and classmate Kimberly Kascak. We designed and developed a mobile iPhone application and website to allow the modern collector to keep easy inventory of their collections. The application allows the user to scan in the barcode of the item, pulling the information from the internet and automatically cataloging the item in its proper category. No more need to manually import forty comics into a spread sheet or wondering what happened to that album you thought you had, or maybe you just borrowed it?
The website for Top Shelf focuses heavily on managing trades with other users and finding recommendations. The web and mobile accounts are synced so that the user never has to re-import any information they've already collected. Users will be able to manage their collections, search through other's collections for possible trades, look up recommendations and interact with users in a forum.
The main feature of the mobile application allows the user to sign into their account and add to their existing collections database by scanning the item's barcode. They can also use GPS to find the nearest comic book/record store/etc., manage their collections, and add to their wish list.
