Toho-Inspired Logo for [adult swim] games

In late 2011, I was wrapping up work on a mobile game called "Monsters Ate My Condo" for [adult swim] and their growing game division.  In addition to previsualizing a considerable amount of in-game visual mechanics, I was also tasked with managing animation content for a television commercial that would advertise the game.

The irreverent humor and visual style of Monsters Ate My Condo is a pastiche of Japanese-influenced culture; over-the-top TV show visuals, Kaiju monster movies, and 8-bit video games.  If any of you grew up obsessing over the original Godzilla movies, undoubtedly you became familiar with the film studio, Toho, and their logo that appeared at the start of the films (seen below).

As a lark, I mocked up my own version of the Toho logo, swapping in [adult swim] branding for the original Japanese text.  I generated the entire concept within Adobe After Effects using only basic tricks in less than an hour.  I sent off the below treatment to [adult swim] simply to gauge their reaction.
Initial [adult swim] logo treatment
The feedback from [adult swim] was extremely positive.  They wanted to move forward with the idea, however,  they requested that I adjust a few layout elements and colors to minimize any possible branding confusion or disputes.  What you see below is the final, approved version.
