In January 2012, I had the insane pleasure of being part of an online Master Animation Class taught by none other than Joe Murray, of Rocko's Modern Life claim-to-fame, as well as my all-time favorite artist, animator, and inspiration! You send him samples of your work and if he thinks you're good enough and have enough potential as an animator, you become one of only 10 people he picks to be inducted into his course.
I was blown away and truly honored when he chose me, and it was an experience that I'll never forget. The class that I was part of, Class II, had the opportunity to not only get feedback from Joe through email, but it also included one-on-one rap sessions via Skype! I couldn't tell you how nervous and excited I was the first time we Skyped, waiting for the call.
To this day I can't get over the experience I had in Joe's class, and the vast knowledge and tips that I took from it from a true legend and animator, that will aid me in growing to be a better animator myself
The idea I had for a hopeful future online series involves a character that has been on my toon back-burner for quite some time. The main protagonist is a fellow named Toast, who works at a retirement home and lives in a world filled with food and random objects portraying characters with human qualities and each episode twisted with a hint of social commentary.
I'm really stoked to get started on finally bringing 'Toast' to life, and if my storyboard could make Joe Murray laugh, then that's another reason to get cracking!
