Book cover design for Virginia Woolf's To The Lighthouse. One of my favourite Woolf novels. I decided to use purple for my palette as Woolf wrote in purple ink, and I used futura book and regular for the type as this font was published in the same year as the book - 1927. It has a clean, modern feel which I felt represented the style of the writing perfectly.
The end papers are hand drawn seaweed, which represents the physical sea, but also the idea of synapses in the brain following thoughts and conversations in the book.
