Although I enjoy all areas of textile design, I chose to specialise in knit during my degree at Chelsea, with a fascination for constructive, decorative textiles I thought knit offered me a different and somewhat challenging way to look at fabric design, as I had very little previous knowledge of the craft. For my final degree show project I decided to produce very structural niche garment and jewellery pieces, using the technique of hand crochet as a form of sentimental and nostalgic second-skin. Taking inspiration from defence and protection in nature, I really wanted to experiment with the contrast between hard and soft materials, incorporating wood and ceramics into my designs.
