This Way Up?
Mass-consumption has radically changed the way we shop, choose and experience products. Images, space, sounds, all play a crucial role in triggering the moment of glories when a product is picked from shelf and lands in a shopping cart.
So, why do we love and hate packaging at the same time? Why do we package things after all? This project is a reflection on the powerful drivers behind the culture of packaging and consumption.
Combining several layers of information, this project was executed as a cube (40x40x40cm) in corrugated cardboard, and that can be opened in 3 parts standing for the essential qualities of packaging: protection, information and desire.
Each part of the cube contains a board-book that highlights in a fun way various aspects that make packaging so fascinating.
