Twitter is about giving people a voice for
their opinions, thoughts and rants. It is
a social media platform that enables people across the world to interact with
each other and find commonalities. Hash-tags (#) are used to represent these
common topics, documenting them in a live feed. Until now, hash-tags have only
existed to serve that purpose.
We decided to take advantage of the
hash-tag ‘#FirstWorldProblems’ global community and parallel their complaints
to issues of developing nations. By immediately replying to their ‘tweets’ with
‘Third World Problems’, we show the irony in their statements and provide users
with the means to alleviate poverty and pass on the ‘Millennium Development
Goals’ (MDG) message.
