  • Thinking Made Visual...
    Work with us exhibition.
  • The Work with us exhibition was held within the Northumbria School of Design to raise awareness of certain services and projects that take place within the school that many people were not aware of. The design school works on and with many exciting internal and external projects for a wide variety of clients. The exhibition was also set up to promote post graduate study and make the students aware of what the school has to offer.

The concept of the exhibition derived from a quote from designer Saul Bass 'Design is thinking made visual'.

I took the the words 'thinking made visual' very literally and set about creating a visual representation of the design process. This involved collecting a variety of random objects from around the office and peoples desks which I then used to create visual timeline which was then attached to a large white wall and labeled along the way with different stages of the design process. The objects used on the wall were then all backed up with case studies which where related to them at the end of the design process line. The line ran through the exhibition with coloured thread which related to different key design sectors that had been worked on within the school and acted as a guide through the exhibition.

I also designed a series of cards which were handed out at the exhibition itself with links to relevant areas of interest. The information used in the cards was later used to create a direct mailer which was posted to those who could not attend the scheduled event. The direct mailer also included case studies from the exhibition.

Newdesign magazine also ran an article on the exhibition which can be found at the bottom of this page.
