The little town of Gniew

This was not really a project. A few months ago our school went on a short photographic trip to the little, picturesque town of Gniew in Northern Poland. Ended up with this set of pictures, some of them showing things that are going away - like the railroad bridge.
All the images below are oilprints on Canson paper
In the shadow of the majestic castle built by the Teutonic Knights there is a little, mostly forgotten town
The remnants of the castle and the palace built by Jan Sobieski for his wife tower over the town
Some streets have been renovated betraying the past affluence of the town
Unfortunately, only the streets which have been renovated have a storry of affluence to tell
Even the church is entered through the side door
And below the castle there is the beautiful Vistula river
Another artefact from the affluent past is the railroad bridge next to Gniew. The area used to have a well developed system of railroads with two stations in Gniew itself. They are long gone and even the rails themselves have a shape that is kind of strange.
