The big plenty and the wee tubby sparsely
The childbook "The big plenty and the wee tubby sparsely" is about child poverty in Germany.
Despite the fact that Germany is a developed country, many children live in poverty.
Sometimes they don't have enough money for healthy food or a good education.
The big plenty has many toys and can go to school, whereas the wee tubby sparsely
only has it's kuddly-monster and envies the big planty very much. The good friendship
between each other shows that the financial aspect is not always the most important thing in life.

150 pages, over 100 colored handdrawn aquarelle-illustrations and rimes.
The childbook is printed on cream-colored 120g book paper. With it´s size of 18x25cm
it´s very compact and perfect for children to be held in their own hands.
There are two versions of spine: The first binding technology is a thread stitching in natural colors
similar to the illustrations in the book. The board consists of 140g greyboard and a back-lining
made of Schrenz, which is a kind of cardboard. As well as the first one, the second is a thread stitching
this time with white a thread. The solid hardcover is well suited for a childbook, because it‘s much more solid than the greyboard.
I made a survey with 87 children to see what they think about poverty and how they imagine a poor child. On the basis of the result I create the two main characters and the story.
