  • The Wave
I started with a super hi-res image of the original and rendered it in black and white. Then I did lots of clean up and making sure it was only black and white (no grays) before painting it and using a scratch effect. I learned a great deal going over every inch of Hokusai's masterpiece. By the time I was done I was in awe and humbled by his skill and message. I also did it right before the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, which seemed to sync up in a very sad but poignant way.
