For most of the people in the world, Thailand's national football team might not be as renowned as their beautiful beach, Spicy food, and the mysterious streets of Pattaya. However, long times ago Thai was victoriously won bronze at the 1972 AFC Asian Cup and had represented Asia at two Olympic Games in Melbourne 1956 and Mexico 1968, and won the 4th place in the Asian games in 1990, 1998, and 2002, and established them as one of the continent's best team.
But that was so long, long time ago.
Nowadays, after years of dissapointment and series of failure. It seems like the limelight is fading away from the nation's pride. Stadium which once filled out with crowd now leaves lonely, with only a handful number of die-hard fans from the glorious days. Most of the younger generation didn't even know about their own national football team and it all looks like all hope is loss.
But even all the darkness in the world can't take out a tinest dying candle.
Under the management of Winfred Schefer in AFF Suzuki Cup 2012, the War Elephants return to form by showing excelence display and new playing attitude, beating the Philippines 2-1, follow up by 4-0 thrashing of Myanmar and 3-1 victorious against the defending champion from 2008, Vietnam. In semi-final, they manage to get the 1-1 draw away from Malaysia in front of 100,000 crowds and secure the final by 2-0 result at home.
In the final, after the 1-3 defeats by Singapore on the away match, and 1-0 victory at home isn't enough to give the players and the fans what they want, trophy and success. Still the national football team have regain faith from its supporters for once in a long time and it seems like shining future is await for the War Elephants.
Be a part of our struggles, fight for the future, for the better days that yet to come.
THE WAR ELEPHANTS WILL ROAR AGAIN!
