The Village Band - Character Design
- The Village Band
Character Design and Illustration - For this project i created a traveling band, made up of members from different backgrounds, that go around playing music for the people.
I started with pencil sketches, made a final design in Illustrator, and finished with an illustration done in Photoshop. 
I imagined the Horn player to be a former player in a Royal music group. Maybe he was laid-off or something due to a downsizing decree, but he still has much pride for his town, so he kept his tunic and emblems. Also, that face...
might have been a factor in him being laid-off...
A big fan of the Russian Kettlebells. You can catch him working out, unless its time to play drums for the band. I pictured him from some military background, but with the personality of a gentle giant.
For the singer of the group i thought a Romantic type character would be fitting.
Confessing his love to the night, crooning through gently pointed lips. His luxurious curly locks neatly parted and seamlessly blended into that magnificent beard... Magic.
I wanted to add a feminine presence to the group. So I added a Lyre player with a modest appearance but someone who has a strong, colorful voice that soars over all the instruments.
The tambourine player is a young kid who tagged along with the band after seeing them perform in his home town. His youthful energy and sense of adventure is contagious and though he might have terrible dance moves, he knows how to spark the band on.- The band all together, jamming. :)
