The Transit of Venus is a very rare astronomical event that occurs when the planet Venus crosses between the Earth and the Sun. The next Transit of Venus will occur on June 5th 2012. This motion graphic was created for the Notre Dame Digital Visualization Theater (DVT) as a promotional piece to educate visitors about the upcoming transit.
The Digital Visualization Theater is a 50-foot dome theater (planetarium). Thus, the canvas for this graphic is circular. It has been cropped down to focus on the graphic.
