“He does have a home. It just doesn’t have four walls.” -Kiana replies to someone who tells her he wants to give her happy 3 month old puppy a home.
I am documenting young travelers and their dogs that flow through Haight Street and Powell Street in San Francisco. I am studying the relationship between the street kids and their dogs and in this series of photographs, I want to show the dog's side. These travelers choose to be homeless and most of them are proud. Over time, I have come to realize these travelers are able to take care of their dogs maybe even better than someone with a full time job. These dogs are on a never-ending walk and not once have I seen a dog I thought should be indoors. With the help from the organization VET SOS, these dogs owned by the transient get the vet care they need for free or very cheap.
