The Sailor Senshi Project

  • The Sailor Senshi Project
    costuming conception and creation

A project that documents the design, planning and construction involved in the creation of a costume. Subjects were from the manga series Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi, specifically Sailors Pluto and Saturn. Documentation includes not only the assembly but inspirations, influences, art, suppliers and other references used in conception. Design ideas and goals, sewing, crafting and dyeing techniques were recognized through photo walkthroughs and written week-to-week log entries. Recordings were compiled into a functioning website that can be utilized by other costumers and individuals interested in the process.
