The Roping Chair No.1 was designed and built during the summer of 2011. Built from plywood and common rope, the chair showcases wood-working techniques I had learned during that time. Although I'm proud of the design, I must admit that its lack of joinery betrays my very meagre knowledge of furniture design. In fact, this design is the outcome of my first experience designing a chair. Routed channels running down the length of each side piece contain a long series of nested holes, which allow for the visually smooth passage of a single length of rope.
