- The Quilts of Ann Brauer
Abstract landscapes in fiber - Color, fabric and the traditions of quilt making have always interested me. I love the memories that quilts evoke--the record of the time and care involved. The blocks that when repeated add to the meaning and effect of the quilt just like the repetition of our days add up to a life. I love the individual fabrics that tell particular stories. In this series I am using commercially available fabrics that are pieced onto blocks using a method I call quilt as you go. The bindings are all carefully hand finished. This allows me to create subtle shifts in color and simple abstract concepts to capture a moment in time and place.
