VOLKSWAGEN Soundmachines – The Product

  • Abstract
    The Product* was asked to deliver a comprehensive interactive experience for visitors in occasion of New Beetle launch at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. Soundmachines is an installation which features a tangible interface of 3 custom-built graphic turntables for the DJ to mix live. Sound reactive visuals get then displayed on a 30 meter led screen and blended with audience generated shapes thanks to a motion tracking system.


  • Final application. mode 0 > when in standby only air streams are visible - mode 1 > song gets played, recorded as a short sample from top to bottom and the displayed from left to right - mode 2 > bass line kicks in - mode 3 > audience motion gets visualized - mode 4 > overall feel 
  • Final concept. A combination between a wind tunnel and Joy Division's cover of  'Unknown Pleasures'
