Studio RHE’s recently completed Old Vicarage in Suffolk is a perfect example of how sensitive conservation can produce a beautifully simple restoration.  Built c.1820, the original vicarage was surrounded by a collection of outbuildings in varying styles and levels. 

Combining old with the new.

Based on a glue-laminated timber post and beam structure, the restoration acts as a natural intervention that touches very lightly on the existing. 

 

Now a family home and photography studio, the new design creates a consistency and modern feel while embracing the unrefined 19th century brickwork.
