This physical alteration of one of his books is my attempt to simplify the theme of The Metamorphosis – on how the human situation often loses it's human quality, and is slowly reduced to a small part of a bigger machine in our times. 
Upfront, the shape of the book somehow gives the reader an idea of what the story is all about. 
As soon as you flip through the pages, it seems like paragraphs, sentences, words, start to lose their meaning
Until everything loses meaning, and just becomes a single part of a bigger machine
