Theater poster.

Poster for a play by Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz (1885-1939). My class worked with a Buenos Aires municipal theater for one semester, and we had several hypothetical assignments for it. The requirement for this poster: use photography for the visuals. My instructor, who photographed publicity stills for a film production company, knew one of the actors in this play, so I had the rare opportunity of photographing the two leads during a rehearsal.
This poster, and the alternate versions, were later exhibited at the first "Bienal de Arte Joven Buenos Aires" (a juried biennial for young, unpublished artists), and got mentioned in the Buenos Aires newspaper La Nacion (1989).

This sketch shows my original layout, split vertically into thirds, with the text running down the middle in one column. The photographs (or the poses I shot) turned out to be too wide to use this way, and I had to come up with a different layout. It was a happy accident which made for a stronger composition.
