  • The Lion and Me
    A self generated children's book.
  • This children's book is my final major project of my Foundation Diploma. It was a six week project and I had to first come up with a story and then draw illustrations for all 32 pages. I mixed various techniques for my images digitally, but all the basics where done as pencil drawings in a dummy book  first. I created various textures from lithography, screen-printing, watercolour and acrylics.
Some of my research took place in the Barbier-Mueller museum in Geneva, which currently exhibits masks from all around the world.
  • This is one of the characters in the story, which is based on one of the masks I saw in the museum.
  • A double spread in which I have used customized typography.
  • A double spread of the book. I mixed photography, vector illustration and handmade, scanned in  textures.
  • A double spread that needs to be held sideways.
  • Another double spread with almost all the characters on one page. The background was done in acrylics, the lion with watercolour and the masked characters are vector illustrations.
  • The printed book. The book was printed at a local printer and then hand bound by me.
