The Köln Concept

  • The Köln Concept
    cultural project
  • The Köln Concept is the mainpart of my diploma at the Köln International School of Design.
This  project, was launched  in cooperation with  Julianna Csépe.

Far away of any stereotypes, we want to draw a picture of the city Cologne, which connects the past with the present  and sensibilizes the habitants of Cologne in a deeper way.
The project invited the cologne citizen to a challenging view of the city. It plays with the repeatability of particular historical events of the urban planning, cultural and sociological conditions.
The project consists of 3 parts: • an theoretical disput • an exhibition • a publication

Exhibition: A diolog with the city of Cologne

Invited were 50 cologne artists, designers, architectures, photograhers and writers. They agreed, to have directly a discourse to their own city and show their individually view of cologne in a group exhibition.
The aim of the exhibition was to use the existing capability of creative working and thinking people of the city Cologne and bring their focal point back to their own livingspace.
Next to a lot of young, upcoming artists, we could win many famous people over for beeing part of the project. for example Rosemarie Trockel, Walther Dahn, Walter König, Fremdkörper, Prof. Dr. Michael Erlhoff, Prof. Uta Brandes...

The exhibition was during one week and had a attendance of over thousand visitors.

  • Publication
The magazine was released on the opening of the exhibition. It is splitted into two different parts.
The first part shows the project-oriented view of Cologne with fotographs and textes. At this the intention is, to give never to the reader any fixed opionion. In fact the wide wiggle room can animate the reader to go on action by himself and find out his own position against the city cologne.
The second part of the magazine conduces to the documentation of the exhibition. The work of every member is represented on one page.

The magazin has got 89 pages, and was printed offset 1000 times.
