The Ice Cream Shop

  • Small businesses are suffering. Retail shops Restaurants and other smaller outlets are missing so much customer attention.
    Poor signage.
    Bad branding.
    Unattractive shop fronts.
Uninteresting and same old same old refits
Because your a good Chef or have lovely product, does not make you good at displaying your business.
I try to give my customers source information, better identity with logos and branding and sypathetic design.  I tend to look at each project as an installation, a piece of art and I try to advise and steer.  What I don't want to do is impose my views on a customer. I want to get inside their heads to find what they are getting at, and then interpret  and visualize for them. I want each business to be individual and fresh.  My biggest problem is in low budgets and unrealistic costings.
So we design and then manufacture each project. Then with a small specialist team we go to site and fit.  I control the whole process and am on hand throughout so that what I have visualized on paper is what the customer gets.
  • I re designed this Harbour side Ice cream and sweet shop in Mevagissey in Cornwall.
    Design brief:
    New identity and logo
New look, and fresh layout both internally and externally.
I decided that I wanted the shop to suggest that perhaps it was where the Ice cream was being made. This is very much a family tourist town in Cornwall, so I wanted to suggest and reflect the customer base. My client wanted a sort of 1950's style American Sasberella bar feel, yet a link to the local town and history.  The property had originally been am Fish cellar in the 1800's.
At the time I was very influenced by Steam Punk movement and so designed and built the ice cream machien, back left
