- We are happy to share with you the latest animation from I Shot Him. We collaborated with Participant Media and TakePart to create a website and animation for a social action campaign about the power of storytelling for the new movie The Help.
We had a little over 3 weeks to concept, illustrate, and animate this piece. It was definitely a test of our abilities to get everything done in such little time with only two people, but it was really fun seeing how far we could push it.
When we first started this project we headed out to our favorite vintage magazine store in SF to find inspiration. Because the movie is about women in the 60’s during the civil rights, we needed to find an engaging 60’s illustration style that appealed primarily to women. We bought a stack of magazines including Life, Ebony, Holiday and Fortune and started tearing through pages to find good ideas to mix together. We found the work of Naiad & Walter Einsel, and used their work as a guide for what I wanted to do.
We hope you enjoy the animation, and share the word for people to take part in sharing their stories.
