the floating village
The Egyptian Venice "El Max" is one of the neighborhoods of the city of Alexandria - Egypt,
located in the Department of Amriya district in the west of Alexandria.
Max region is of a private nature where the houses of fishermen are built around the canal water "Mahmudiya",
a freshwater flowing into the Mediterranean Sea. The simplicity is the main feature of this place.
Most residents work in fishing craft via small boats inherited down from one generation to another.
Their homes are stretching on one and a half kilometer, and are characterized by a primitive architectural format
that takes the form of the runway. Perhaps the most distinctive scenes in that region, is the fishermen
gathering on boats to sew nets and get ready for fishing.
المكس هو أحد أحياء مدينة الإسكندرية ،يقع في دائرة حي العامرية في غرب الاسكندرية.
سمي بالمكس من المكوس أي الجمارك وكانت تٌحصل في هذه المنطقة للبضائع الواردة من الغرب.
تعتبر منطقة المكس ذات طبيعة خاصة حيث تتراص مساكن الصيادين حول مصب مياه ترعة المحمودية العذبة وهي تصب في البحر المتوسط.
الطابع الشعبي هو السمة الرئيسية للمكان، الذي لا يعرف على وجه اليقين تاريخ ظهوره للحياة. ويحترف معظم قاطنيه حرفة صيد الأسماك
عبر قوارب صغيرة يتوارثونها من جيل إلى آخر. بينما تمتد منازلهم على مسافة كيلومتر ونصف الكيلومتر،
وتتميز بنسق معماري بدائي يأخذ شكل المدرج، بحيث ترى كل البيوت مياه البحر بلا فواصل.
ولعل أهم المشاهد المميزة في تلك المنطقة، هو تجمعات الصيادين على القوارب لحياكة الشباك وتجهيزها للصيد.
