This is the Concept I was commissioned to create for Arabian Oud company office in London. The company is one of the largest perfume producers in the Middle East. The brief was to come up with the concept and design for their new retail space in Westfield Shopping Centre, Stratford City London and to very tight deadline.
The challenge was to encapsulate the spirit of the Middle East oriental culture imaginative poetic way and fuse it with the world of fragrance translated to the Western contemporary retail environment.
The final Idea behind the Concept is eternity and lightness of the fragrance set in Universe in the atmospheric space between the Earth and Stars. The actual space is composed from the matte dark walls with from the back illuminated dark wood framed panels and fine sand textured paint covering the dunes shaped surface lighted with complimentary ambient light. Together with the distress antique gold painted panel and the large framed lighting panel in the focal point opposite to the entrance they hold the fragrance bottles on the glass illuminated discs. The three floating golden metal lines positioned over the glass discs represent the wavy dunes like emerging out of the panels desert sand surface. In the centre of the floor is standalone glass and wood made perfume stand. The glass box is filled with sand in opposite direction to the shaped wood side panels while the top glass panel has precise wave formed laser cut engraving illuminated at its inner edges. Inside the sand you will find the half buried old arabic vase. The ceiling suspends a large grid of distress gold painted islamic patterned stars thorough which the whole space is ambient lighted creating the ethereal tranquil atmosphere.
