An experimental project for exploring type
I believe that type also has emotions just like humans; we feel happy, sad, angry, anxious… So does type!
This project went along a process that majorly includes two parts.
During the first part, I explored different visuals (materials, texture and techniques) that can enhance the emotion behind the related text by my hands. With lots of trials and errors, I finally turned out a handmade book that is connected by 6 emotions and 5 transitions between them. The 6 emotions are: Happiness, Joy, Calm, Sadness, Anger, and Anxiety. This handmade book took more time than digital files, but it made me fully experience the process of exploring and feeling these emotions one by one while I was making them.
Based on this book, I stepped into the digital designing part. Before starting that, it took me one day to take photos for this book from different interesting angles. These photos that I have were adopted as the visual elements for each emotion. During the final digital solution, these visual elements fully interacted with the text that is related to each emotion and enhance the visual communication about the emotions behind type.
Final Outcome
An alternative solution during the process.
Visual element: Film
Concept: Type, sometimes, acts like human. They also want to tell people how they feel by telling a story with the changes of their mood.
