The West Coast of New Zealand's South Island has always been special to me. Not only do I have fond but distant memories of visiting this region area as a child, it's isolation has always attracted me. Less than 1 percent of New Zealand population live on this vast stretch of South Island's coast, nearly 9 percent of New Zealand's total landmass, whilst enduring the highest rainfall of anywhere in the country.
Even with it's wild and rugged coast I was still drawn to it's elements of structure within this wet landscape.
