The Born Identity

India is a land of variety and unity in diversity: people and their life. Ahmadabad, one of the cities of India is an example of this. The society is divided according to socioeconomic background. The high class and the middle class people can enjoy the luxuries of life but there are some people who are devoid of all the worldly desires. As we all know slums form a major part of the population in India, they do serve the country in many aspects but struggling for their own identity. The population of Ahmadabad is 5,570,585 out of which 440,000 people live in slums within the city, from which Parivartan Slum is the largest slum of Ahmadabad. Ahmadabad is home to a large population of poor people living on the river banks. River side slums in Ahmadabad are about 40 yr old. People of slum are more conscious of their expressions and they try to cherish each and every moment of life. People in the slums are wanted but not socially accepted. Capturing their expression and understanding their current living situation is aim of this project. It is every citizen's right to have individual identity proof of government to secure their future and family. Every citizen has his/her own identity but it also demands acceptance from government.
In India many people do not have their identity proof and they give excuses for their ignorance. Many of them are very low class or bound with some conditions because of which they are not able to fight for their citizen rights and in other case many people can fight but still they do not show any interest or feel any necessity to do so. The purpose of this project is to capture those faces and bring them among other sect of the society.
