The Black Man & Society is the result of an altered book project. For this project we were to combine at least two books to create one new book with a completely new meaning. I combined the text from Booker T. Washington’s Up From Slavery with photography from Ezra Stoller’s The United Nations (the architecture of the United Nations) and Duane Thomas’ Body & Soul (photography of contemporary black male figures and celebrities) to create a piece that questions the black man’s place in modern society.
