Animal Rights are often neglected, especially in circuses. We often see campaign ads fighting animal cruelty that unfortunately do not lead to end such unfairness. So I decided to create a new ironic idea: a circus event promoting animal cruelty, which shows what really happens in circuses.

The Big Top is where all the "fun" happens, from beaten elephants to lions and cheetahs living in bad conditions, this event's objectives are to show and teach people how animals suffer in circuses and how animal circuses are not always fun.

Due to the difficulties I had when visiting one of the circuses in Lebanon, I was not able to capture enough shocking photos to use in my posters, the photos I took were restricted because according to them I would be ruining the circus reputation. Thanks to PETA's website, I got to use some footage and photos that show what really happens behind the scenes of circuses.

The final output consists of posters, tickets and an ad promoting the event.

  • The idea behind the tickets is that once they get ripped, the audience keep the photo to be reminded that, by joining the circus, they participated in such cruelty.
  • The stickers are added to the posters to show the main message behind the irony.
  • For the animation, I got inspired by the way I designed the posters. Making cutouts from each element and building a circus scene, I came up with this result.
