I teamed up with artis and illustrator Annabelle Hartman under the name The Articto make and run our stall for “Tea & Make” - a small arts, crafts, cakes and designs fair in Forest Hill, London.
While most stalls sold items of craft and design, we also made a mask-making workshop for kids and adults alike. Using a template, visitors would then trace and cut out their chosen mask. (polar beard or polar explorer beard) We would then add elastic band and the customer could then colour in as desired.
The success of this event was largely due to the fact that the customers didn’t buy a mask, they made a mask- Obvious as it sounds this “home made souvenir” approach changes your approach to an object and it’s a technique I’ve used for several other projects.
