Having its first edition in 1953, the Arab Games can be considered Regional Games that put together athletes from the Middle East region, to compete in multi-sport events. Actually, it is a sport mega-event that helped to shaped not only the sport of the region but also to break paradigms about the Arab people.
Since the first editions, the Arab Games has been having an important role for the development of sport in the region. The Games contribute to build the infrastructure and organization of the sport in the Arab countries as well as to the development of the sport for women and handicap athletes of the region.
Nowadays, the Arab Games is organized by the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees in cooperation with the Arab Youth and Sport Ministers Council. Besides others, aims to educate through the sport based on the Olympic principles. With these foundations the Games reached the international recognition.
Besides the sports affairs, the history of the Arab Games shows the cultural diversity of the Arab people and its countries. Through the Games is it possible to reflect about the political adversities of the region therefore it helps to understand that sports can never be seen as an isolated phenomenon of the society.
This exhibition aims to present the history of the Arab Games its creation and development from the birth of the idea in the year 1947 until nowadays. The exhibition is divided in five different sections that illustrate the different moments of the Arab Games development.
