Interpretation of The Annunciation by Fra Angelico.

This is a fresco in a corridor of the San Marco convent in Florence. Mary and the angel greet each other devoutly. In the background Fra Angelico painted typical Tuscan cypresses.

The purpose of the black lines between the arcs of the loggia is unclear. They do show that Angelico had good control of linear perspective. Read Less
